High School Athletic Coaching Clearance

New Coach Requirements

  • Recommendation to Hire
  • Coaching Application
  • Coaching Code of Ethics
  • Employee Onboarding Packet
  • Payroll Packet (if receiving stipend)
  • Copy of Photo I.D. and SS (SS if receiving stipend)
  • Fingerprint Clearance (DOJ & FBI)
  • TB Test (expires every 4 years)
  • Fundamentals of Coaching (NFHS)

Required Training (Expires Every 2 Years)

  • CPR and First Aid (must be in person)
  • Concussion in Sports – NFHS
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest – NFHS
  • Heat Illness Prevention – NFHS
  • Cheer Safety Training -NFHS (Cheer Coaches Only)

Required Training (Expires Annually)

  • Bloodborne Pathogens – Keenan
  • Mandated Reporter – Keenan
  • Sexual Harassment – Keenan

Returning Coach Requirements

Coaching Expectations

  • Follow ALL protocols
  • Complete ALL MPUSD certification requirements to participate in activities and receive clearance through Human Resources
  • Confirm all participants are cleared and have participated in mandatory informational sessions
  • Supervise, monitor and collaborate with program coaches to create Cohort conditioning plans
  • Create and maintain Cohort rosters that includes up to 16 participants, including no more than two staff members
  • Communicate weekly plans and schedules with parents. students, and administration
  • Do not physically interact with any cohort to which they are not assigned
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director to anticipate issues and create mitigation plans
  • Check in and support student-athlete academic endeavors

All coaches must be cleared by HR before starting their assignment. Cleared means, ALL documents and training/certifications have been been submitted to HR and a golden ticket has been issued to the Athletic Director.

 

Coaches receiving a stipend will not get paid without the golden ticket or if keys and equipment are not returned.
