The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District is once again celebrating statewide recognition for its commitment to student success through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). Fourteen of the district’s 16 schools earned honors from the California PBIS Recognition System for the 2024–2025 school year, with 11 schools achieving the top-tier Platinum distinction.
“This level of recognition is truly extraordinary. Positive school culture is one of the cornerstone tenets of MPUSD, and PBIS has been at the heart of this work for more than a decade," said Donnie Everett, Assistant Superintendent, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support. "Our schools continue to lead the way in California, building learning environments where every student feels supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. These awards reflect the dedication of our educators, staff, and families in making PBIS a foundation of student success across MPUSD.”
“For over 10 years, PBIS has been a driving force in helping our schools grow stronger and shine brighter each year. This recognition shows the progress of our schools and keeps us on track toward our vision of becoming one of the finest school districts in the country," said PK Diffenbaugh, Superintendent, MPUSD. "I am incredibly proud of the way our students, staff, and community embrace PBIS as part of who we are at MPUSD.”
