Welcome Back for the 2nd Quarter!

Good Morning Green Machine Community!

Welcome back for the 2nd Quarter!  This quarter is the shortest of the school year, therefore it is super important to start off on the right foot and get ahead while we can.  In just two short weeks we will have our Parent Teacher Conferences with Thanksgiving Break coming just four weeks later!  Then we will have just two weeks of instruction before the last week of Final Exams.  Again, it is important to dig in and perform as to not fall behind in what can be a rapid quarter.

With the start of the 2nd quarter, Fall Athletics is beginning to wind down with Winter Athletics getting ready to start.  The construction on the Lower Fire Road appears to be nearing its end and we have been given back the bleachers and access to our brand new press box.  Little by little, we are getting the campus back to normal, and we are eagerly anticipating our Lower Field Project and new Student Parking Lot.  There are still no solid dates to share as to when we will be able to open these spaces, but work is on schedule and we look forward to how our campus will be positively affected by these upgraded facilities!

I also want to remind students of our temporary student parking at the Monterey Child Development Center.  This is a safe place to park while the Student Parking Lot is being renovated, and it is just a short walk to and from Monterey High School.  The Monterey Child Development Center is at 251 Soledad Drive in Monterey, just a few blocks from our campus.
We want to continue being good neighbors, therefore please do not congest the local streets with cars.

Additionally, there are many events coming up on the horizon for which we should be excited!  The Golden Folk Benefit Concert is coming up on November 3rd, with all proceeds going to the Monterey High School Music Program.  Options for purchasing tickets have been sent out and will continue to be shared leading up to the event.  Also, the Monterey High Theater team is putting on "The Crucible" beginning November 15th - 17th, and continuing November 21st - 24th.  All shows begin at 7pm in our Welch Theater except for Sundays when the show begins at 2pm.  More information about both events will be coming soon, so be on the lookout for our newsletter!

We look forward to a great first week of the quarter, and I hope everyone enjoyed a restful Fall Break!
