Welcome to Monterey High School
Hello Green Machine Families!
Thank you all so much for helping to make the first week of school extremely successful. Our freshmen orientation was a massive success and we had an incredible turnout for freshmen parent orientation as well. There is a lot to be excited about for the 18-19 school year and I hope to partner with each of your families as we embark on another academic and life journey!
Celebrating last year, the growth we made in our SBAC was something we are all very proud of and we cannot wait to see what another year of effective teaching and learning through a rigorous International Baccalaureate (IB) pedagogical lens will bring to our student performance and maturation. Our A-G graduation numbers reached 73%, our highest ever and one of the strongest numbers of all schools in the county! There is no doubt that our students, when given the opportunities, are taking advantage.
We have both International Baccalaureate programs being authorized this year with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) visit coming in early November. Please look for more updates around this and get involved in this process through our International Baccalaureate parent nights. The IB has dramatically changed the way we approach our classrooms and our relationships on campus and we look forward to a year of deepening the impact this has on your students.
Construction on the new athletic field in Dan Albert Stadium has completed and the new field is beautiful! We are thankful to the district for making it happen on such a quick timeline. It is a safe and extremely high quality field of which our students and community should be proud. Please come out to visit our first Varsity Field Hockey game of the year on August 23rd at 3:30 pm and our first Varsity Football game August 25th at 4 pm. Construction on the new Science Innovation Center will begin toward the end of the semester and we could not be more thrilled with the new facilities coming to Monterey High School!
We have Back to School Night coming August 23rd beginning with a parent presentation in the Monterey Café at 5:30 pm. We look forward to seeing all of our families attending to meet teachers and see how their students are interacting and learning at Monterey High School. Please make it a priority!
Once again, we are looking forward to an incredible year of growth and relationship building at Monterey High School, one in which our students will be challenged to be their best and given ample opportunity to do so. Please get involved early and often!
Go Dores! Go Green Machine!
